Time Lapse Camera Setup

Last week me and Andy went down to Northampton to Unreal where the Lift is being built. With help from the guys at Unreal, we constructed a waterproof container to enclose a webcam connected to a laptop inside a container. We got the box from Maplins and drilled a hole in the top to feed through the USB cable. This was further waterproofed using a gland. We then coated this area with liquid rubber and silicone spray.

Mounting the camera on top of the container. This was the trickiest part as we had to shout through the container to someone positioning the camera. It was mounted on a metal base and a hole was drilled in the side of the container for the USB cable to feed through to the laptop.

The camera is now in place until the end of May when we will go back to Northampton to take it down. Fingers crossed, we should have a beautiful time lapse of the Lift being built!!! We set the software to capture an image every two minutes which should get us about seven minutes of footage which we can speed up as appropriate.
